Product Introduction
Prepainted Galvanized Steel Coil are typically made by applying a certain thickness of coating or bonding an organic film onto surfaces such as galvanized steel sheets, non-patterned galvanized steel sheets, aluminum-zinc coated steel sheets, or zinc-aluminum-magnesium coated steel sheets after surface treatment. These sheets are then cured and formed into "color coated sheets," which exhibit excellent corrosion resistance, formability, and decorative appeal. They are widely used in industries such as construction, home appliances, light industry, and transportation, making them an ideal composite material.

Types of Color Coated Substrate
Galvanized Substrate
Xinghan Coating & Galvanizing galvanized sheets are divided into spangled and non-spangled sheets. All color coating substrate raw materials are supplied by Xinghan's own galvanizing production lines, meeting the color coating needs for both export and domestic supply. The double-side coating weight ranges from 30 g/m² to 275 g/m². A 120 g/m² substrate is sufficient for general environments, while areas with moderate pollution or above, or coastal regions, typically use a substrate ≥150 g/m².
Aluminized Zinc (AluZinc) Substrate
Aluminized Zinc Silicon Steel Sheet is a steel sheet hot-dip coated with an alloy of aluminum (Al 55%), zinc (Zn 43.5%), and silicon (Si 1.5%). It features a smooth surface and offers superior corrosion resistance and heat resistance/oxidation resistance compared to galvanized steel. It possesses excellent paintability and good formability. The double-side coating weight ranges from 30 g/m² to 180 g/m². A 100 g/m² substrate is used for general environments, while areas with moderate pollution or above, coastal regions, or industrial areas typically use a substrate ≥150 g/m².
Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium Substrate
Xinghan Coating Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium substrate, with aluminum (Al 6%) and magnesium (Mg 3%), enhances the crack resistance of the coating. It offers high corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and wear resistance, while also featuring self-healing properties at cut edges. Its corrosion resistance is 5-10 times that of ordinary galvanized steel sheets. It is used in environments requiring relatively high corrosion resistance performance.
Selection of Coating Weight for Color Coating
In most cases, galvalume (aluminum-zinc alloy coated) color-coated steel is used in relatively acidic environments, while galvanized (zinc coated) color-coated steel is employed in relatively alkaline environments. For use in environments with higher corrosion resistance requirements, such as severe industrial areas, coastal regions, and offshore areas, zinc-aluminum-magnesium color-coated steel is adopted.
The color coatings widely used in building envelope systems are primarily based on galvanized, galvalume, and zinc-aluminum-magnesium substrates. The corrosion resistance is directly proportional to the coating thickness.
Coating thickness primarily affects the cut-edge corrosion resistance of color-coated sheets. Cut-edge corrosion is an electrochemical process influenced by factors such as the pre-treatment layer, primer, substrate thickness, and coating thickness. Typically, the pre-treatment layer and primer are relatively constant. Therefore, cut-edge corrosion resistance is affected by the substrate thickness and coating thickness. Thinner substrates and thicker coatings result in better cut-edge corrosion resistance.
Selection of Substrate Thickness for Color Coating
The conventional thickness range for Xinghan color-coated substrates is 0.12 - 1.5 mm, tailored for both the Chinese and international markets. For the Chinese domestic market, national standards recommend the following minimum thicknesses:
Roofing External Sheet: ≥ 0.6 mm
Wall Cladding: ≥ 0.5 mm
Interior Lining Sheet: ≥ 0.4 mm
